POSITION: Full-time Information and Technology Specialist

There is a vacancy for the above referenced full-time position in the Wall Township Police Department.  A Technical Support Technician is responsible for the daily operations of Police Department technology, which is an integral part of the organization’s success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Interested candidates must possess the ability to perform all duties by the Police Department including, but not limited to:

  • Perform computer repair service such as motherboard replacements, hard drive replacements, OS installs, malware intrusion detection for our in-house and mobile computer terminals.
  • Perform on-site and/or remote analysis, diagnoses, and resolution of complex hardware/software conflicts for a variety of end users and equipment including but not limited to mobile video recorders, in house surveillance and interview cameras, Body Worn Cameras, Encrypted VPN traffic, Wireless 4G LTE modem connectivity.
  • Daily maintenance of network clients and servers. Perform new installations of computers, network equipment and network connected devices.

Requirements:

  • 3 years experience in IT related fields.
  • Ability to diagnose and fix computers.
  • Knowledge of all current releases of Windows Operating System.
  • Ability to perform Virus/Malware/Spyware detection and removal.
  • Experience providing helpdesk support to users via telephone and email.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server and Exchange functionality.
  • Working knowledge of networking principles such as TCP/IP, DNS, Windows networking, network printing, internet routing, IP phones, and IP cameras.
  • Ability to manage time and work responsibly without supervision.
  • Good Multi-Tasking skills, ability to prioritize effectively and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Availability M-F from 8am to 4pm and availability for on-call evenings and weekends.
  • Must have strong work ethic, desire to grow professionally and demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to independently research and resolve technical issues using online research, vendor helpdesk and other resources.
  • The right candidate is a highly motivated, well organized self-directed professional who embraces new challenges and collaborates well with team members, accepts responsibility, and sees assignments to completion; exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate will be privy to highly confidential matters and transactions and must display the utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex instructions, manage multiple tasks, and work effectively under stress and with interruptions, within deadlines and with change in work priority.
  • Candidates shall possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license and High School diploma or equivalent.

The Chief of Police or his designee will have the discretion of determining the appropriateness of the tattoo.
