Full Time EMS Coordinator

 

The Township of Wall is pleased to announce an employment opportunity as an Emergency Medical Services Coordinator in the Police Department.  This job to be created will be one of two such titles (the other position is currently filled) within the Department to continue to meet the needs of the community.

 

Job Summary:

The Emergency Medical Services Coordinator shall develop, implement, and manage policies and procedures and the corresponding staff to ensure that quality prehospital basic life support emergency medical services and patient transport services are provided to the population and citizens of Wall Township in a professional and expeditious manner.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for and ensures that township ambulances are ready to respond in accordance with state regulations. Maintaining up-to-date registration, insurance, and state inspections on all township Emergency Medical Services vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedures relating to Emergency Medical Services.
  • Communicate information regarding EMS to department personnel.
  • Responsible for maintaining a Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance Program.
  • Responds to medical emergencies to evaluate medical protocol compliance, evaluate employee performance, and deliver hands-on care, if needed.
  • Coordinates and provides medical and related training for the entire department. This shall include instruction, scheduling, coordinating, and establishing training.
  • Establish and maintain records and files regarding emergency medical training, including certification and recertification, of all department personnel.
  • Responsible for the ordering and inventory of department equipment and supplies.
  • Liaison to the state EMS regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains open communication and good working relationships with the local first aid squads and fire departments, as well as other township departments, area hospitals, medical facilities, schools, and other community groups.
  • Develops specifications and options for the purchase of ambulances, EMS equipment, and medical supplies. Participates in the budget process, providing recommendations and justifications.
  • Participates in disaster and event planning.
  • Attends and represents the department in a professional manner at trainings, meetings, and events at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Maintains a Field Training and Evaluation Program and associated records.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the EMS staff.
  • Establish and maintain proper staffing schedules through the appropriate use and balance of Full- and Part-Time Emergency Medical Technicians and other staff where necessary.
  • Review the processes, progress and accuracy of the medical services billing that is conducted through a third-party provider.

 

 

Education: 

 

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.
  • Must be New Jersey Department of Health Certified Medical Technician (EMT) Certified, process certifications for ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-300.  ICS-400 is preferred but not required.

 

Experience:

  • Five years of experience as an EMT is required.  2 years of supervisory experience in the emergency services field is preferred.
