On Sunday, April 21, 2013 at approximately 4:38 p.m., the Wall Township Police Department responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of State Highway 138 and Allenwood Road involving two vehicles. On scene investigation has revealed that a collision had taken place in the east bound lanes of State Highway 138, just west of the intersection of Allenwood Road. John Lecorchick, 40 of Howell Township was operating a Chevy Blazer and collided with Daniel C. Alpaugh, 58 of Spring Lake Heights, who was operating a Toyota FJ Cruiser. The Toyota FJ Cruiser was also occupied by Patricia Romano, 56 of Spring Lake Heights. During the course of the collision the vehicle operated by Lecorchick overturned causing Lecorchick to be ejected from the vehicle.
Lecorchick was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune by Wall Township First Aid Squad and MONOC Paramedics with serious injuries. Alpaugh and Romano were also transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with minor injuries.
State Hwy 138 east was shut down for approximately 3 ½ hours and traffic was diverted with the assistance of the New Jersey Department of Transportation Emergency Response Unit. The collision is currently under investigation by the Wall Township Police Department and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Unit.
