Safe Driving and Drugs/Alcohol Awareness

The Wall Township Police Department has conducted a classroom presentation for all the Wall High School Junior Health Classes titled “Safe Driving and Drugs/Alcohol Awareness”. The presentation is aimed specifically for students in the junior class.  Students in the junior class are usually in the process of developing safe driving habits.  This program was first started five years ago and has continued since then.

The goal of the Safe Driving and Drugs/Alcohol Awareness program is to provide an interactive lesson for students, where they are able to see the dangers of drugs & alcohol abuse, unsafe driving and the consequences of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol & Drugs. The Wall Township Police Department utilizes officers who are certified Drug Recognition Experts to teach the classes and provide an open forum for students to address any questions they may have.  The Safe Driving and Drugs/Alcohol Awareness presentations were conducted at the Wall High School on April 4, 2016 and April 5, 2016.

Junior/Senior Prom – Consequences of Driving Under the Influence

Drugs and Alcohol Awareness

In 2014, a program was developed for the Wall Intermediate School students titled “Drugs and Alcohol Awareness”.  This program is aimed at providing students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grade with information regarding the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse. The lessons are also taught by officers who certified Drug Recognition Experts.  The Drugs and Alcohol Awareness presentations were conducted at the Wall Intermediate School on March 16, 2016 and March 17, 2016.

LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs)

Both the “Safe Driving and Drugs/Alcohol Awareness” and the “Drugs and Alcohol Awareness” programs were specifically designed to supplement the LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) program.  The LEAD program is a ten lesson plan for all district fifth graders that is conducted by Wall Township Police Officers that are LEAD certified instructors.

Share the Keys

The Wall Township Police Department also conducts a program titled “Share the Keys”.   This program is a research data-driven orientation designed to reduce teen driver crash risks by increasing parental involvement.  The Share the Keys program is offered quarterly for all junior and senior High School students.  The Wall Township Police Department has conducted this program since 2012.  Attendance by both the student and the parent is mandatory in order for the student to receive a parking permit to park on school campus.  Since the inception of the program, approximately 1,700 people have attended.
