Wall Township
Police Knock and Rap Program (04-01-2008)
The Wall Township Police Department’s Community
Support Unit would like to announce the
implementation of a new neighborhood traffic
management program called "Knock &
Rap." The program works in conjunction with the
Select Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) to address
traffic safety problems on residential streets
within our neighborhoods and to assist with traffic
calming measures to effectively maintain a safe
traffic flow within the neighborhood.
The "Knock &
Rap" program relies on the neighborhood residents to
identify habitual traffic violators, obtain the
vehicle's license plate number and report the
violation to the police department. Residents'
anonymity is maintained. The registered owner of
the vehicle will be mailed a letter indicating the
infraction and will be requested to call the
Community Support Unit.
The police
department strongly suggests that individual safety
not be compromised at any time while obtaining or
attempting to obtain vehicle license plate
information.
When
neighborhood streets have traffic calming measures
in place vehicular speeds may be reduced and traffic
safety will improve. The "Knock &Rap" program
allows the police department to work in conjunction
with neighborhood citizens to develop viable short
term and long term solutions for their
neighborhoods.
Citizens are encouraged to call the Wall Township
Police Department Community Support Unit at
#732-449-8774 extension #1105 or visit our website
www.wallpolice.org for further details.
